Sustainability

Being based in rural Devon in SW England has given us a firsthand appreciation of the natural world and we are serious about protecting it.

From the very start we’ve set out to create a brand that we can be proud of, far beyond notional green-washing. We carefully consider how to reduce our environmental impact at every step, from design of the garments to delivery at your door.

Slow fashion

We create premium timeless pieces that are designed to be worn. And washed. And worn again. Many times.

We keep our key pieces in stock year round, and we order in small batches. This means we have zero waste of our garments due to season changes.

Certified commitment

We work with a small number of the best makers in Europe which share our sustainable and ethical views.

Our garments are made with a high proportion of Organic Cotton, and for extra peace of mind all are either OEKO TEX or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. We don’t use any harsh chemicals in the creation of our clothing, and we use the most sustainable fabric we can source.

Brushed fabrics

We want really soft fabrics but without the need to use synthetic fibres and chemical washes.  All Känna garments are 'peached' on the inside, essentially brushed to create extra softness close to the skin where it matters. This is an eco-friendly manufacturing process in place of chemical-heavy silicone washes used in abundance in the fashion industry.

British design-European manufacture

All our garment and illustration design takes place here in the UK. Our production takes place in Portugal, a country leading in sustainable and ethical manufacturing  and known for its highly-skilled workforce. Its proximity to the UK enables us to select the most sustainable method and route of transport.

Recycled and recyclable packaging

Packaging matters! Every piece in the process of creating and delivering matters. We choose recycled and recyclable packaging, and we're always looking for ways we can improve.
